My diaper stash is finally complete. This will be our third baby in cloth. We started cloth diapering Jacob when he was four months old after being introduced to “new age” cloth diapers by another mother while at Storytime in Nashville.
Emma was cloth diapered from birth so we still have a lot of those itsy bitsy newborn cloth diapers to pass down to this little munchkin. Did I mention just how cute and tiny newborn cloth diapers are? Oh, so cute!
To be honest, I probably have way more than enough. However, I will have two in diapers. Thankfully not three. Yep, that’s right. Jacob is officially 100% potty trained! Not even a diaper at night. I am so proud of my boy!
The storage organizer that I use was purchased at Target. My best girlfriends pitched in and got me a giftcard for my babyshower. The organizer is intended for toys, but as you can see it also works great for storing and sorting all of our cloth diapers.
Our diapers mostly consist of Fuzzibunz One Size, bumGenius 4.0 One Size, and Sunbaby One Size. As you can tell, I like the one-size. For the obvious reason that they fit from pretty much newborn all the way through toddler.
Almost all of my diapers were puchased as “seconds” (slight imperfections that do not affect the function of the diaper), on sale, or used. The majority being used. I bought two Fuzzibunz brand new not as seconds. But it was a buy two get one free deal so I couldn’t pass it up…
I have quite a few prefolds and fitted diapers too. Both require a cover, so I like to use those at home. I keep most of the prefolds in two plastic drawer storage containers on the changing table.
One of these days I’d like to do a diaper demo just to show how easy cloth diapering really is. Maybe once our new addition makes her appearance.

Great diaper post! I’m 29 weeks pregnant with our first, and we’re leaning towards cloth. It’s nice to hear that they’re convenient and easy to use. I just registered for a couple of different one size fits all brands so I can try a few before I build my stash. I think buying “seconds” and saving $$ sounds like a great idea.
Cottonbabies.com just had a huge seconds sale for BumGenius 4.0 One Size diapers. They were $9 a piece with free shipping! So, I stocked up on those
If you fan them on facebook you usually know first when any sales are going on.
I don’t know how you feel about used diapers, but diaperswappers.com is an online community for cloth diapering moms where you can even purchase used cloth diapers in the FSOT section (for sale or trade). I’ve been posting there ever since we first tried cloth and have learned a lot from other moms.
Congrats to you and good luck with cloth diapering!

Great post! And thank you for the shout-out!
What is in your stash? I see there are alot and btw I love how you organized your dipes I am looking at getting something pretty similar for our LO!!! I am new to and just starting out with CDs so if you have any advice please let me know!
Hi Erin! Right now my stash mostly consists of Fuzzibunz One Size, bumGenius One Size, and Sunbaby diapers (all of which are pocket diapers). If you are on a strict budget, but are really wanting to cloth diaper, Sunbaby diapers are the by far the cheapest. I was able to get them at $4.50 brand new through a co-op that I am involved with. Sunbaby diapers are also found on Ebay (by doing a search for ‘sunbaby diapers’ or sunbabydiapers.com. I also have a few prefold and fitted diapers that I mostly use for around the house.
For a lot of tips and advice on cloth diapering, I really suggest visiting diaperswappers.com. It is an online forum for mom’s who cloth diaper. When I first started cloth diapering I found it so helpful. Now it is just a fun place to chat with some like-minded moms.
I purchased my diaper organizer at target. You can find a link to it on my post, or search toy organizer on target.com.
Hope this helps!
Hi! Thanks for the quick response! I do visit Diaperswappers.com and have gotten some pretty good info it is still nice to talk to others outside of that forum… I just made my first fluffy purchase I am getting our LO some Charlie Banana OS diapers they are pockets and very similar to FBs. I was able to find the organizer before you posted but I appreciate the info! I think it will go great in DDs room!
I have looked at the sunbaby a little bit but not sure the quality and how they are at absorbing? I have heard some mixed reviews I mean price wise its great! But I am just not sure… thanks again!
I love this post!! Where did you get the cheaper diapers (with slight imperfections?) Our first is 2 months in Fuzzibunz and Bumgenius (both one size). I love them and I love not spending money on things wer just throw away. I need to up to stash for our little one now and one on the way! (Yes, Irish twins!!)
Not sure if you still check this post as I’m new here but I was wondering if you could tell me what brand the cloth diapers with the fishbowls (dr seuss?) in the picture above are. (The ones with the leg warmers) They are adorable!!! Thanks and btw, I love the way you organized your diapers! I’ve always wanted to try cloth but have always been intimidated. I think I’m going to “bite the bullet” with our second baby since I can’t believe how much I spend on diapers every month for my now 2 yr old!
